Picasa: Upload an Image and Embed in a Post

When you embed images into a blog post, Google stores the images in Picasa. Because you have a Google account, you have access to Picasa and can look at the images Google is storing for you.
If you have images that you may want to use in multiple blog posts or even in multiple blogs, you can save storage space by uploading them once to Picasa. When you want to embed the image in a blog post, you just go to Picasa, find the image, copy the URL, and provide it to Blogger.

Here are the instructions for uploading an image to Picasa and then inserting it into a blog post.

Before uploading the image, have your blog post sitting in Edit mode. Then, open a separate browser window. Since you are already logged on to Google, just click My Account in the new browser window.

  • Click Picasa Web Albums.

  • At the top center, click Upload.

  • Click on the album for your blog and click Select Album.

  • Now find the image to upload: Under “Select photos to upload” click Browse. Navigate to the image on your computer.

  • Double-click the image, or click once and click Open.

  • Back on the Picasa window, click Start Upload. Your new image will appear with the others.

  • Now, click on the image, and on the right side, click Link to this Photo.

  • If you are given a size selection, click the dropdown box and click the size you want.

  • Click in the box next to "Image only (no link)".

  • Click inside the "Embed image" box. The text will highlight. Right-click with your mouse and click Copy.

  • Go to the blog you are editing and click the Add Image icon.

  • Put your cursor in the URL box. Right-click, and click Paste.

  • Choose a layout by clicking Left, Center, or Right. Also click the Image Size that best matches the size of your image.

  • Click Upload Image. Then click Done.

  • Back in your New Post edit window, click Preview.
